Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships - Feb 7th 2016
Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 08:26AM
Members of the Tillsonburg Rowing Club competed in the Canadian Indoor Rowing Competition (CIRC) on Feb 7 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. The club fielded a record number of 13 competitors with entries in the under 8 yrs of age category, juniors, seniors, masters and club four categories.
It was an impressive day for many of the rowers who achieved their own personal best times for the 2000 metre race. The distance is a gruelling ordeal that seems to last for an eternity as the meters slowly count down on the monitor, but Tillsonburg showed they had a lot of heart and faired very well against the tough competition from other clubs.
In total, 7 medals were brought home including 1 gold by Brenda McClure; 3 silver by Chad Lofthouse, April Phillips and Angela Newson; and 3 bronze by Sharon Howard, Claire McClure and Frank Tamasi.

The Tillsonburg ladies finished second out of eight clubs but didn't manage to catch any of the University rowers.
